Title: Gameplay Video - Casino City 1
Post by: simlink ♔ on October 07, 2012, 05:06:42 pm
As posted on twitter, during the downtime, a gameplay video for SimCity 2013 was posted by a developer a few days ago.

What are your thoughts?

I, for one, hate the look of the trees. They look grainy and uninspired... I am hoping they are fixed by the release.

Yeah, the trees an terrain in general are awful.
Seeing that the game is going to be origin exclusive (I was thinking it would just be the "deluxe" edition) I really don't think I'll be buying this one.

It's origin exclusive? I knew that it was online only play, didn't know it was origin exclusive. That sucks. I've bought a game through origin before, only because it was older and not available in store. TS2: Seasons. If I didn't get it, my game wouldn't work anymore. My CD was too **** and no longer worked.

Darn.

Origin = piece of crap

EA doesn't care about us that think that though (when do they care about us at all?) :P

This Origin episode reminds me of the securerom episode that rippled through the The Sims 2 community years ago. Fans were not impressed, at all. Much like the current outrage to origin outrage in the SimCity community.

They eventually removed securerom from their TS2 product line. I have a feeling they won't change their mind this time, though. :/

securom isn't the worst DRM, try the anno 2070 DRM and the origin DRM.

How those work is you're given 3 licenses, each computer is licensed.. (a RAM, CPU, HDD, or graphics swap will even use a license) and each time you install it it also uses up a license. Use your 3 licenses and you're on their support team's back trying to get them to reset it for you, knowing EA this is a gigantic royal pain in the ass, so...

Oh EA customer support. I reported a technical glitch and the person from support insisted it was gameplay related. But I digress...

I hadn't heard about that, however I had heard about something similar about a BioWare/EA game. Sales missed expectations due to frustration, I believe. What a surprise. :P
